100 day Training in Medicine Buddha’s Anuttarayogatantra
with Dr. Nida Chenagtsang
September 1st - December 10th, 2020
The Yuthok Nyingthig (Tib. གཡུ་ཐོག་སྙིང་ཐིག་), the ‘Heart Essence of Yuthok’ is a unique and comprehensive set of Vajrayana Buddhist practices transmitted by Yuthok Yönten Gönpo the Younger, Tibet's great 12th century physician and meditation adept, considered to be an emanation of Medicine Buddha. It is a complete system of practice from the Anuttarayogatantra (Highest Yoga Tantra) class of teachings, beginning with the preliminaries (Tib. སྔོན་འགྲོ། “ngöndro”) and progressing through the Creation and Completion stage practices to the highest practices of Mahamudra and Dzogchen. The tradition includes concise and simple methods perfectly suited for busy modern people that bring about worldly benefits including improved health and longevity, as well as the ultimate benefit of complete spiritual liberation. The Yuthok Nyingthig is the main spiritual practice of Tibetan physicians, and it contains many unique techniques to heighten the intuitive, diagnostic, and healing capacities of doctors. It is the only set of Highest Yoga Tantra teachings that use Medicine Buddha as a yidam (personal meditative deity).
This one hundred day immersion into the Yuthok Nyingthig practices is a rare opportunity to receive a complete overview of this unique lineage, with teachings, transmissions, and step by step guidance through each of the practices by lineage-holder Dr. Nida Chenagtsang. This format is modeled after the “one hundred days” retreat tradition of ngakpa/ma (householder Tantric yogi/nis) of Tibet, in which non-monastic householder practitioners who have families and worldly work and responsibilities make a commitment to 100 consecutive days of spiritual practice in order to progress on the path.
In this training, Dr. Nida will give two online teachings a week (Tuesdays & Thursdays), starting with the preliminary practices and progressing through all the practices of the Yuthok Nyingthig. A specific day by day practice guide will be provided based on these teachings that students can integrate with their daily routine according to their own schedules. On Saturdays we will meet as a group to discuss the teachings and support the cultivation of our Yuthok international sangha, and on Sundays we will meditate as a group with guidance in order to gain more confidence in each practice. The recordings of the teachings and practice sessions will be made available after each class for your review or if your schedule does not permit you to attend live.

"May I achieve wisdom in all medicine sciences,
And benefit all sentient beings like the sun and the moon.
May all that is spoken be omniscient.
May all compounded formulas be medicine.
May all that is granted be beneficial.
Grant me the common and uncommon siddhis."

Dr. Nida Chenagtsang
Dr. Nida Chenagtsang was born in Amdo, in North Eastern Tibet and began his early studies Sowa Rigpa (Traditional Tibetan Medicine) at the local Tibetan Medicine hospital. Later he was awarded scholarship to enter the Lhasa Tibetan Medical University, where he completed his medical education in 1996 with practical training at the Tibetan Medicine hospitals in Lhasa and Lhoka.
Alongside his medical education, Dr. Nida trained in Vajrayana with teachers from every school of Tibetan Buddhism, especially in the Longchen Nyingthig of the Nyingma school from his root teacher Ani Ngawang Gyaltsen and in the Dudjom Tersar lineage from Chönyid Rinpoche and Sremo Dechen Yudron. He received complete teachings in the Yuthok Nyingthig lineage, the unique spiritual tradition of Tibetan Medicine, from his teachers Khenpo Tsultrim Gyaltsen and Khenchen Troru Tsenam, and was requested to continue the lineage by Jamyang Rinpoche of the Rebkong ngakpa/ma (non-monastic yogi and yogini) tradition.
A well-known poet in his youth, Dr. Nida later published many articles and books on Sowa Rigpa (Traditional Tibetan Medicine) and the Yuthok Nyingthig tradition both in the Tibetan and English languages which have been translated into several languages. He has extensively researched ancient Tibetan healing methods, and has gained high acclaim in the East and West for his revival of little known traditional Tibetan external healing therapies.
Dr. Nida is the Co-Founder and Medical Director of Sorig Khang International and the Sorig Institute, Co-Founder of the International Ngakmang Institute, established to preserve and maintain the Rebkong ngakpa non-monastic yogi/ini culture within modern Tibetan society; and Co-Founder and principle teacher at Pure Land Farms: Center for Tibetan Medicine, Meditation and Rejuvenation in Los Angeles, California. In addition to his work as a physician, he trains students in Sowa Rigpa and the Yuthok Nyingthig tradition in over forty countries around the world.
